The days of showing up to work and immersing yourself in the humdrum life behind cubicle walls (essentially nullifying your existence from the immediate world around you for 8 hours a pop) until you leave at 5pm are going the way of the dinosaur. Claustrophobia has never been cool, and the feeling of dread one gets from not interacting with the world around them has become unbearable, and this type of office environment stifles aspects of today's economy that are becoming increasingly important: collaboration and creativity.
I've been playing with Mikael Thuneberg's wonderful MS Office/Google Analytics apps. He's being plugging Excel, and now Powerpoint, into Google Analytics so you draw numbers directly into your office apps without needing to copy/paste, or export. Mikael's done great work here, and is a great guy to chat with. If you present GA data in word reports, excel spreadsheets, or powerpoint, you really should check out his work. You can download his code from his site, so repay the favor by clicking a few ads so he gets a few pennies for it. If VBA people want to get involved there is a small problem with data coming in which contains ampersands, such as URL's. We're not sure what, but I think Excel is trying to process it rather than simply display it. My VBA's not good enough to solve this, and Mikael has limited time because he has to develop this stuff for work. So if you think you can add a pre-processor between import and display to filter &, join in! Mikael's blog, with downloadable apps, is at http://mikaelspage.blogspot.com/
