There’s no escaping the fact that mobile marketing and m-commerce are on the rise since 66% of smartphone owners use their phone to aid them when shopping[i] and 25% of smartphone owners said have made purchases on their phone in the last week[ii]. Advertisers need to make sure they are up to speed on the best practices for mobile advertising and optimizing their web presence.

Despite the recession, the mobile web is coming of age.

Watching mobile evolve has been fascinating.   I’ve dabbled in the space on and off since 2001, watching the mobile web evolve at what seemed to be an algebraic, then geometric, and now almost exponential rate.  Even in the face of this vast and deep recession, the mobile web space is bounding forward.  Consumer demand is increasing, and it is becoming increasingly straightforward for marketers to create a solid mobile presence.  If an organization has not yet begun contemplating the specific business argument around going mobile, and the steps necessary, they are increasingly at risk of being left behind.
In the U.S., consumer adoption of the mobile is reaching a crucial tipping point, despite the state of the economy.   According to a study performed by Tellabs.com, the numbers are only going to get bigger.    Consumer research indicates that users will dramatically increase the use of mobile data services through 2011, with a rapid uptick in 2009 alone.  Of those surveyed, 71% anticipate daily use of services such as the mobile internet.  One nice leg up for the mobile web is that, unlike the advent of the world wide web, the end user is not the bottleneck.  In the late 90s, people...
