The iMedia Summits host some of the industry's most influential senior brand and agency marketers, thought leaders, and solution providers several times a year at beautiful resorts all across the country (and recently in Canada!). iMedia believes it's important to encourage these powerful attendees to pay it forward within their own organizations via relevant corporate social responsibility programs and initiatives. With such a strong, close-knit community of like-minded smarties gathered in Lost Pines, Texas this week for the iMedia Agency Summit, iMedia proudly launched a new partnership with the Clean the World ONE Project to help offset hotel waste while also benefiting local homeless shelter Front Steps.
Clean the World's mission is to prevent the millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every day in two ways: collecting and recycling products discarded by the hospitality industry everyday, and distributing hygiene tools and products to those in need by partnering with companies like iMedia and Front Steps. Since its inception in 2009, Clean the World has delivered over 11 million soap bars and 325,000 pounds of shampoo and conditioner to communities all over the world, simultaneously eliminating over 750 tons of waste!
On Monday, May 5, iMedia Agency Summit attendees gathered to assemble over 200 hygiene kits consisting of recycled soap, shampoo, washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, and more. Hannah Ford, the Front Steps representative onsite, said these materials are the hardest to keep in stock at the Austin shelter, and would help clients at Front Steps to prevent illness, prepare for job interviews, and preserve hope for the future.
In true iMedia fashion, beer and wine was provided, and attendees laughed and chatted while coming up with ideas for ways to expedite the hygiene kit assembly process. Toasts followed as the kits were completed and sent off to Front Steps, where they replenished an ever-diminishing stock of these basic but essential products. The event was so successful that iMedia will continue to foster this initiative at all conferences moving forward.
