A SXSW insider and part of iMedia Summit's guest attendee community, Kenyata Martin, Head of Marketing Strategy, NA Lubricants, at Shell Oil Company, was able to share his takeaways from his conference experience.
Q: What was the best part of your SXSW experience?
A: I think the best part of my SXSW experience was being part of the team that brought one of the most talked about activities for the interactive portion of the conference, the Karting ReImagined Experience.
Q: What surprised you the most about being at SXSW?
A: I think the thing that surprised me most about being at SXSW was the range of conversation that we could engage in, everything from health care, to internet privacy and security, to consumer loyalty, and even talent management.
Q: How does this trip impact your business? What did you take away from it?
A: Well, this impacted my business in two ways. I think the first and most obvious way was the elevation of the brand by taking motor oil to an unexpected place. This was a deliberate strategy by the team, and I feel we exceeded our own expectations in what we were able to accomplish. Personally, for projects I have going on back in the office, I was able to take away some new thought frameworks that are immediately applicable to some of the work I'm currently engaged in.
There were plenty of ideas that stirred around at SXSW.
