Blogs, Social Media, and Niche Events

I've been a long time supporter of iMedia. Without a doubt, they produce the best events in the interactive industry. The combination of top notch content coupled with the best networking opportunities is unmatched anywhere else. Those of you that have attended an iMedia event know exactly what I'm talking about.

That said... a few times each year, I find myself attending events (or sending people on my team) that are focused on a particular area in the advertising/marketing arena. For example, I've heard extremely positive things about the Omniture Summit. Since we use their full web analytic suite, I'll be attending their summit in 2009 along with my team in order to maximize the use of the tools they offer. At AccuQuote, we're a founding member of an assocation called the Blog Council, so we attend their 1 day events along with the other member companies to discuss blogging and social media. There are other events focused on analytics, Search, and a myriad of other niches. You get the picture.

I'm constantly asked by people which events I recommend, so from time to time I'll mention them on this blog. It's a given that every iMedia event is at the top of the list. As an advisory board member for the iMedia Summits, I fully drink the Kool-Aid.

Here's an event coming up that looks pretty good in the area of blogging and social media.

On October 28th in San Jose, CA, some of my colleagues from the Blog Council are speaking at a new event called BlogWell.  Senior execs in charge of social media from these companies are scheduled to speak: Cisco Systems, Graco, The Home Depot, Intel, Kaiser Permanente, UPS, Walmart and Wells Fargo.

They'll be presenting practical, how-to advice on::
Social media ROI
Obtaining management buy-in
Monitoring the conversation
Disclosure
Legal issues
Video blogging
Internal blogging
Branding
Creating great content
Participating in the conversation
Blogging in regulated industries
Engaging detractors
Dealing with negative word of mouth
BtoB blogging
